BROKEN

“Life cracks us into unrecognizable shards
of former incarnations.
Slivers of our hurt and our pain and our shame
nestles next to fragments
of our truth, our divinity,
our fierce reclamation of power."

"It is this very brokenness that allows us to knit together,
kaleidoscope style.
And we spin and shift and turn to the light
until we appear brilliant,
lit from within.
Suddenly we are revealed;
unexpected beauty born directly from brokenness."

"We have to be willing to break in order to become.”

    1. They sure are powerful words
      – I'm fascinated by the notion
      of brokenness & weakness
      transforming into light & strength...
Thank you so much for your generous wish,

  2. Dearest Rebecca... there’s a really beautiful story in the Bible that I have read since I was young girl but saw in a new and beautiful way this weekend. It is found in John chapter 20. The story talks of how Jesus appears to his disciples after his crucifixion and resurrection. One of his disciples, Thomas, struggles to believe that it’s really Jesus. I get the sense that although he had known Jesus well and seen so many miracles he just couldn’t seem to get past the disappointment and fear of what had happened. Then in this most beautiful way, Jesus invites Thomas to come and touch the parts of himself that had been broken on the cross- the holes in his hands, the wound in his side. It was through the places where Jesus himself had been broken and hurt that he was able to invite Thomas to connect with him and believe again. So beautiful. So compassionate. So tender. Hugs to you on your journey. —Melody

It makes me happy
when you leave a trace

- whether it's a single word
or you scribble all over.
